UNO-R, headed by the Father Preseident – Rev. Father Don Besana, OAR and the Vice President for Academics – Rev. Father Jose Alden Alipin, OAR signed a MOA with the DILG represented by the provincial Director Atty. Ferdinand L. Panes, CESO V on July 12, 2019 at the President’ Hall for the conduct of the CSIS in the Municipality of Binalbagan, Negros Occidental.
The signing of the MOA was witnessed by Dr. Ma. Novie Abao Mejica, the focal person for CSIS of DILG in the south of Negros Occidental Province and the RDO Director, Mona Freda Secondes, who also leads the team in implementing the project in Binalbagan.
The other members of the research team also present during the MOA signing were the Ms. Ma. Cecilia Mercado as Field Supervisor and Support Staff, Mr. Alfredo Alave as Data Processor, and Dr. Ivy Aboy as Editor. Mr. Alave has attended a 2-day training in Ormoc, Leyte in preparation for this task.
Also present in the event were some representatives of the DILG from the regional and local offices including Ms. Karen Joy Mansuelo, Ms Angelica Quijano, and Ms. April Gem Nerpiol. Ms Mansuelo gave the overview of the CSIS and introduced the new CSIS online system – an enhanced and a more efficient way of submitting the data and milestones of the project to the UNO-R CSIS Team Manager.
Some lay administrators who also witnessed the MOA signing were Dean Annabee Claur of CAS, Dean Jasmin Parreno of CCJE, and Dean Elmer Haro of CIT. Ms Judy Legaspi, the Secretary to the President, served as Emcee and Moderator during the event.
This CSIS project is the third project of UNO-R with DILG through the Research and Development Office. UNO-R was the Learning Resource Institute who conducted the CSIS for the City of Bacolod in 2014. Also, RDO availed of technical assistance for its project “Education and Training in Coastal Management for Selected Coastal Barangays of Bacolod City” in 2016. The latter gained distinction from DILG as one of the ten outstanding projects in the Philippines.
